What is DBT?

DBT is a type of cognitive-behavioral therapy that focuses on teaching skills to help individuals:

  • Regulate Emotions: Learn to identify, understand, and manage intense emotional experiences.

  • Improve Interpersonal Effectiveness: Develop skills for building and maintaining healthy relationships, setting boundaries, and communicating effectively.

  • Practice Mindfulness: Cultivate present-moment awareness and acceptance, reducing reactivity and increasing peace of mind.

  • Tolerate Distress: Learn strategies to cope with difficult situations and emotions without resorting to harmful behaviors.
